Hampi Yaku: Ancestral Medicinal Plant Teas

In the rural indigenous communities of Imbabura, many Kichwa Otavalo Runa families have relied on the healing power of regional medicinal plants for generations. These plants are used in daily teas to promote overall well-being, alleviate symptoms, regulate mood, and treat various illnesses.

At Pakarinka Ushay Healing Center, we incorporate these herbal teas into our daily practices and share their benefits with our Retreat participants.

Are you ready to deepen your connection with nature’s healing power?

We invite you to join our Medicinal Plants Workshop, where you’ll learn how to identify, prepare, and serve the powerful regional plants that have supported the health of these communities for centuries. The workshop includes a detailed handout featuring color images of the plants, making it easy to remember and identify them.

What’s included in the workshop:

  • Expert teachings of Tayta Willak on medicinal plants and their uses.

  • A traditional Andean group ceremony to deepen the connection with the plants.

  • A delicious Pachamanca lunch, prepared with locally sourced ingredients.

  • Round-trip transportation from San Francisco Park in Cotacachi or the Otavalo bus terminal.
