Runa Mikuy: How to Prepare and Serve a Traditional Andean Meal
This one-day workshop introduces participants to popular traditional foods and dishes of the Kichwa Otavalo people. Observe and participate in the preparation of five Andean dishes you can serve your guests with confidence.
Learn the runa etiquette tips observed at most parties, events and celebrations. If you don’t already know why preparing the equivalent of three meals for each guest is a wise plan, or that most runa guests consider it rude to “help themselves” and expect you to serve all the food, this workshop will fill you in and then fill you up with the delicious dishes you learned to cook.
$65 fee includes the cooking class, lunch and wanlla take-home leftovers at the end of the day, and round-trip transportation from San Francisco Park in Cotacachi or the Otavalo bus terminal to Agato.
This workshop is available throughout the year to private individuals and groups who are interested in learning Andean cuisine and meal etiquette.
